Is This Suitable For Me?

The Hybrid 2 Laygel Medium incorporates an innovative foam equivalent to synthetic Latex with an extra deep Relfex support layer. It provides 3cm more relfex foam than its sister mattress the Hybrid 1 Laygel Soft.

This provides a medium responsive feel to the mattress and provides rapid response rates when compared to traditional Memory foam. The Hybrid Laygel 2 Medium allows an immediate ‘sink’ into the comfort layers of the mattress whilst still providing a firmer support for the sleeper. The Laygel foam is not visco-elastic, it doesn’t require heat to respond, so doesn’t store heat like Memory foam. Also the response rates and breathability of Laygel provide a synthetic Latex like feel.

This model would suit a 12-15 stone sleeper looking for that medium feel, but with the initial comfort of synthetic Latex, above 15 stone and this will become a soft mattress.

– 5cm of gel infused 60kg density Laygel Foam Topper

– 23cm Core Mattress made up of 5cm of gel infused 60kg density Laygel Foam on 18cm base of supportive Reflex Foam

Total Depth = 28cm

Please note: Our depths are of the foam only and don’t include the covers. The cover can add 1cm-2cm to the depth along with the quilted undulations. We advise you double check once the mattress arrives before purchasing any specific depth fitted sheets. We don’t include the cover as we find it misleading to quote the cover as part of the foam.

Springs

This is a Memory foam mattress and contains no spring unit.

Mattress Cover Type

This mattress comes with a 400gsm knitted quilted polyester cover. The cover can be removed and washed were required.

Summary

The Hybrid 2 is a great alternative to Memory Foam and Latex, removing the sinking feeling of Memory Foams and providing a Synthetic Latex response rate, it really does embody the term Hybrid! This gives a medium firm tension on the mattress for those 12-16 stone in weight. This model will provide the perfect balance of support and soft comfort.

The Hybrid 2 Laygel Medium is a medium Hybrid foam mattress. The Hybrid 2 Laygel Medium is a deep mattress at 30cm overall depth. The medium tension has a spring like effect to this mattress. The increased support is provided by a deep 18cm Reflex base layer making this a medium mattress.

The Hybrid 2 Laygel Medium uses a Laygel comfort layer on top of supportive Relfex foam. Laygel is a synthetic Latex style foam, gel infused, which returns to its original shape almost immediately. It is also provides better breathability and less heat retention than Memory foam. Laygel is not heat retentive so is soft at room temperature providing you with more of a bounce sensation to the foam compared to other foams. It will provide a soft bounce before the push back of the Reflex support layer.

– 25cm Core Mattress made up of 7cm of gel infused 60kg density Laygel Foam on 18cm base of supportive Reflex Foam

Comparisons:

The nearest comparison to this mattress would be Dreams Creation Balance [Dec 2013 KS £2499] which is a 3 layer Foam mattress. The top two layers are 5cm of Soft Foam and 2.5cm of Firmer Foam no further specifics are given. Our Hybrid 3 gives you 5cm Laygel topper and 7.5cm of Laygel on top of 18cm Reflex Foam.

Hi Lee, just to say I bought one of these hybrid mattresses just before Xmas. I must say it took a while to get used I the bounce and softness of this mattress but since I wanted a soft responsive mattress I waited it out for a week. I’m so glad I did. I’d seen the sealy hybrid range but was told they were mega expensive and still one sided. I also looked at the igel range at bensons but the lack of information on what their foam was put me off.

I saw the hybrid 2 and with its turntable topper I thought it was an excellent idea, well done John Ryan contemporary!! This bed is far cooler than my old tempur mattress which was really far too firm and hot. I’d recommend without a doubt John Ryan and Lee’s advice. This bed is ideal for someone wanting a softer nights sleep without the heat!! – Matt
