Fusion 0 Latex Pocket Firm
Pocket sprung latex fusion mattressJohn Ryan Fusion 1 Latex mattressFusion 0 Latex Mattress400 GSM Polyester Cover John Ryan

Is This Suitable For Me?

The Fusion 0 Pocket Latex Firm is our starter Latex model.  It combines the natural benefits of Latex with a traditional pocket sprung base.  This gives you a dual comfort Latex layer but with the push back and support of a pocket spring unit.  Latex is incredibly breathable and durable giving you a high grade comfort layer and pocket sprung base.

This is a firm tension for the 10-15 stone sleeper above this and it becomes a medium.

Depth and Densities of Layers

Topper

  • 5cm topper.  Comprising of 3cm of 80% natural 20% synthetic 70kg density Latex with 1cm of Graphite Latex for FR regulations on either side.  The topper can be removed, turned and fully rotated.

Core Mattress

  • Top layer –5cm Total.   3cm of 80% natural 20% synthetic 70kg density Latex with 1cm of Grahite Latex for FR regulations on either side
  • Base layer – 18cm supportive foam encased pocket sprung layer

Total Depth = 28cm

Please note:  Our depths are of the foam only and don’t include the covers.  The cover can add 1cm-2cm to the depth along with the quilted undulations.  We advise you double check once the mattress arrives before purchasing any specific depth fitted sheets.  We don’t include the cover as we find it misleading to quote the cover as part of the foam.

Springs

The Fusion 0 Pocket Latex Firm uses 1000 individual pocket springs beneath a thick Latex layer to provide support to the sleeper.  These are medium tension barrel springs.

Mattress Cover Type

This mattress comes with a 400gsm knitted quilted polyester cover.  The cover can be removed and washed were required.

Summary

The sheer number of Pocket Sprung ‘Latex’ models out there can be baffling.  The term ‘Latex’ is often used loosely, with no specifics, densities or blends given.  Without these specifics you will find it incredibly difficult to compare models and there is a vast difference between the worst and the best.  Here we have created a superb 80% Natural 20% Synthetic Latex Pocket sprung mattress, with a huge 10cm total Latex layer, 5cm of which is a removable turnable topper.  The pocket sprung base FEP unit is totally encased in foam to ensure your Latex layers stay in prime condition offering you the support you need with the comfort from high quality Latex.

Description

John Ryan FusionThe Fusion 0 Latex Pocket Firm combines the benefits of a traditional pocket sprung mattress with the superior comfort levels of a Latex  mattress.  The best of both worlds. The core mattress features a 1000 pocket sprung base which is foam encased.  This is then topped with a generous layer of 80% natural & 20% synthetic dunlop Latex which is incredibly breathable and responsive.  On top of this is then a medium density 80% natural Latex topper to provide a soft comfort layer to the mattress.

The construction method of this mattress and materials provides a firm tension.  Ideally suited for 10-15 stone weight range before it starts to feel medium.

This mattress comprises of:

– 5cm Latex topper.  Comprising of 3cm of 80% natural 20% synthetic 70kg density dunlop Latex with 1cm of Graphite Latex for FR regulations on either side.

– 23cm Core Mattress made up of 5cm of 80% natural 20% synthetic 70kg density Latex on 18cm of foam encased individual pocket springs.

Comparisons:

The nearest comparison to this mattress would be Velda Palais [Dec 2013 KS  £2200 Approx] the minor difference is the spring unit. With Velda using a mix of different springs where we use a consistent medium gauge barrel spring FEP unit.  Velda also use Clima-Latex which again is a brand.  Unless you know the blend and mix of Natural to Synthetic its very difficult to compare.

Another worthy comparison is Jensens Elegance Continental [Dec 2013 KS £2595] featuring an hourglass pocket sprung base with a Softline II ‘innergetic’ 7cm Latex topper.  Again there is no breakdown of what blend the Latex is, Innergetic is a brand but doesn’t state if it is Natural, Synthetic or a blend.  Our Fusion 2 is 80/20 solid core with no fillers.

A final comparison which falls short is the Sealy Rosebury [Dec 2013 KS £1229.99] as this model specifies a deep layer of Latex but again provides no blend or information about the depths, it also doesn’t have a removable topper.

I was initially nervous about a large purchase with no opportunity to test the mattress. After an exchange of emails my mind was set to ease; the team at John Ryan are absolute professionals who understand your requirements and advise with a balanced opinion based on your requirements NOT their sales, which was refreshing. There is absolutely no comparison to the useless individuals employed by companies like Benson’s Beds and Dreams who we tried to get some advice and help from but consistently failed.
We knew from our initial emails that it would take a month to arrive so when we ordered our mattress we were not worried about a delay; John Ryan are able to offer you greatly reduced prices by ordering as demand dictates.
And so to the mattress (Fusion 0) from the contemporary collection. We had settled on a mattress from Dreams the Sealy Rosebury which was pushing our budget at £1200. The Fusion is absolutely amazing, it is firm but supportive and very soft and confirming. We had been using a memory foam topper on our last mattress to provide support while my wife was pregnant and came to love this. But the Fusion latex topper and mattress is just another level above. I am sleeping better and feeling more rested and as someone who uses a sleep monitor programme (iPhone) every night I have evidence that my sleep quality is measurably improved. The quality and design of the covers is first class and they look great.

In short, I cannot recommend John Ryan enough. I look forward to many happy years with our mattress and we are already looking at which ones to purchase for our two children.

    Honest John
The headline is because, after John Ryan had made their recommendation we suggested we might stretch our budget for a slightly more expensive mattress and we were dissuaded from doing that. Not many firms would have done that I feel.
In the the mattress met all our expectations and delivery was as promised.

Our previous bed was so uncomfortable causing so many aches and pains we had forgotten what a good night’s sleep was like. We stumbled upon the John Ryan website where there is so much information, it gets a little mind boggling. Being interested in a latex bed we spoke to John Ryan’s appropriate department where the advice was very helpful with no sales pressure. We made our choice with their guidance and waited for its delivery. Hoping we had not made another error, the bed arrived on time and was assembled in our bedroom. We had the safeguard of knowing if the worst came to the worst the bed could be exchanged or even tweaked. Fortunately we never looked back, the bed is oh so comfortable, no more aches and pains. Thankyou John Ryan, we are so glad we decided to contact you.
